Celebrating 45 Years

Celebrating 45 Years, and Counting, of Dedication and Success for Leon Decker

This month, we proudly celebrate and congratulate Leon Decker on an incredible 45-year career with Ravyx (FKA STCR). Reaching a milestone like this is rare, and Leon’s impact over the decades makes it even more meaningful.

Over the Years

From his early days noticing STCR stickers on registers around town to becoming a trusted Project Director on our integration team, Leon has been a constant force behind our success. His deep technical expertise, willingness to teach others, ability to learn throughout the years, and continued commitment to doing things the right way have shaped countless projects and helped our customers grow their businesses.

Leon’s role has evolved alongside the company. Over the years, he’s contributed in nearly every capacity imaginable, building a level of industry knowledge that is truly unmatched. Known not only for his experience but for his willingness to share it, Leon has worked closely with teammates to solve challenges, exchange insights, and move projects forward together.

Leon Decker

Respected by Teammates, Trusted by All

To those who have worked alongside Leon, his impact goes far beyond technical expertise. He is the person people turn to when challenges are complex, timelines are tight, and the stakes are high. That respect has been earned through decades of consistency, calm leadership, and a deep commitment to helping others succeed.

Ed Sepelak, VP of Sales US, who worked with Leon for more than four decades, reflects on that legacy:

“I feel truly privileged to have worked with Leon for 43 of his 45 years in the industry. When I first started in 1981, Leon was my mentor, the technician everyone called when they needed help or couldn’t remember how to program presets on a DTS 571 in a KFC store (which, to be fair, was most of us).

Leon quickly became our official ‘ice breaker.’ Whenever new products showed up, he was the one handed the box, the manual, and the unspoken instruction: ‘Figure it out.’ When we received our first IBM 4680 lab system, Leon was called in to decode an operating system that no one else understood or even wanted to understand.

Over the years, Leon evolved from ice breaker to full-blown ‘smoke jumper.’ If we had a major ACE customer issue and no one could solve it, Leon would get the call, pack a bag at a moment’s notice, and head on-site to put out the fire, usually before anyone else had finished arguing about what the problem was.

He has always been the go-to guy, the calm in the storm, and the one you wanted standing next to you when things went sideways. It’s been a fun, memorable ride and one heck of a lot easier with Leon leading the way.”

That same steady leadership continues to influence the team today. Nick Kelly, Project Team Manager US, describes Leon as “the gold standard for grocery implementations,” someone whose commitment to doing projects right, on time, and within customer expectations has shaped how others lead and collaborate. His approach has taught teammates the value of patience, precision, and partnership.

Even those who haven’t worked with Leon for decades quickly recognize his impact. Rich Werneth, Ravyx CEO, notes how frequently customers and partners go out of their way to praise Leon’s dedication and professionalism. The respect he shows his teammates is clearly reflected in the trust and admiration he earns in return. Leon is one of the many reasons Ravyx stands apart.

Earning Customer Trust

What truly sets Leon apart is the trust he builds with customers. This trust was earned through decades of consistency, expertise, and follow-through. Whether he’s onsite, on a conference call, or helping plan what’s next for a store, Leon takes the time to understand each customer’s goals, challenges, and long-term vision.

He brings a calm, thoughtful approach to every conversation, helping customers feel confident that their project is in capable hands. For Leon, no detail is too small, and no project is “just another rollout.” Every implementation is a partnership, and every success is personal because to him, every project truly matters.

Outside of Ravyx

Beyond the office, Leon’s curiosity and technical passion continue to shine. His hobbies include HAM radio and photography, both of which reflect the same precision, patience, and problem-solving mindset he brings to his work. Most notably, Leon uses his radio systems as a backup communication resource when the International Space Station connects with local students. This has helped ensure those once-in-a-lifetime learning moments happen without interruption. It’s a unique and meaningful way Leon gives back, and a fitting reflection of a lifelong love of technology, education, and connecting people, on Earth and beyond.

Thank You from the Entire Ravyx Team

Leon, thank you for 45 years of dedication, teamwork, and lasting impact. Congratulations on this incredible milestone. We’re grateful for all you continue to bring to our customers and our team, and proud to celebrate you this month and every day as part of the Ravyx team.
